If an application uses a database for its catalogue like Photoshop Elements does and LR appears to (I am not a LR user) one should NEVER delete images directly from the OS. When someone posted you can actually bulk delete in LR, the op seemed quite happy with that solution. No, what the op said was that deleting them individually in LR was inconvenient. The OP said LR is inconvenient, so I posted the most obvious non-LR solution. If you are using Lr, all file management should be done in that program If you are using Lightroom, but I guess you are not, that is a bad idea, because the reference to the deleted images will still be in the catalogue. Why people want to make basic file management and organization so difficult with collections, catalogs, importing, and other cruft? If you want a little more control, viewing the photo info while selecting perhaps, or if you don't have the proper codec to preview your camera's RAW files, surely your camera manufacturer has an image browser? click to select as many as you wish, press
